This year I decided to visit few other places that I never visited while in Romania such as Sibiu. In Sibiu I was supposed to be hosted for three days by one of my college classmates. An unfortunate turn of events just few days before my arrival in Sibiu left me without a host. I was also lucky to get on a very short notice three nights at the lovely Pensiunea Chic. I asked the receptionist for advice on how to visit Sibiu. Half an hour later she put me in contact cu Nicoleta Ocneriu. She immediately customized for me a one day city tour that included everything I was interested to see and other things about which I knew very little or nothing. And what a tour this was! She is the epitome of an insider guide. Starting with her last name Ocneriu - one that resides in or whose roots are in Ocna Sibiului - where the locals were mining for salt since the second century… She also matched the description in the attached news clip. She walked me through miles of streets and centuries of deep history, culture, and nature of this amazing city called Sibiu with which Nicoleta is deeply in love and knows how to show it. Next day she had an activity she could not postpone - a surprise birthday party in mountains for one of her friends (she has many). Because it happens to be a Saturday she asked her parents if they want to drive me on the Transalpine. They agreed and the result was another day spent with lovely people with whom I felt I knew them forever. They drove me through winding narrow roads through small picturesque villages and the beautiful nature on the way to the highest point and a little beyond of the breath taking Transalpine Road. Of course they were taking turns on describing and telling interesting stories about the places we were driving by and when about to get hungry stopped on the riverside for a delicious picnic. I will remember for long time this special traveling experience I owe Nicoleta. BH&H! Sa fiti sanatosi si fericiti!
